OVERVIEW OF RECYCLING RUBBER TIRE AS AGGREGATES IN CONCRETE: AN APPROACH FOR SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT

نویسندگان

چکیده

The difficulties related to non-biodegradable waste management raise the danger of environmental and health issues since millions worn rubber tires are discarded yearly. Over past several years, building industry has been compelled use this material combined with cement-based products due material's accessibility vast manufacturing volume. Due its promising properties, including enhanced ductility, damping ratio, vibration resistance, recycling used tire as a partial replacement natural stones in concrete is topic intense research. Conversely, aggregator reduces mechanical characteristics workability resulting mixtures. This study reviews feasibility using shredded for traditional aggregates concrete. properties rubberized discussed respect various ratios aggregates. results previous studies showed that an aggregate significantly concrete, compressive strength, tensile flexural strength. On other hand, weight which may have potential benefits structural design. Overall, suggests viable approach solid can also provide economic benefits.

Properties of concrete containing scrap-tire rubber--an overview.

Solid waste management is one of the major environmental concerns in the United States. Over 5 billion tons of non-hazardous solid waste materials are generated in USA each year. Of these, more than 270 million scrap-tires (approximately 3.6 million tons) are generated each year. In addition to this, about 300 million scrap-tires have been stockpiled. Several studies have been carried out to re...

Utilization of Solid Wastes (waste Glass and Rubber Particles) as Aggregates in Concrete

Post-consumer glass represents a major component of solid waste. On the other hand, more than 100 million tons of coal combustion ash are generated in the U.S. annually, of which 60 million tons are fly ash. To deal with these problems, two new materials were developed: “glascrete” and “ashcrete.” They have the potential of being made almost entirely from recycled materials: crushed mix-color w...

Study On Waste Tyre Rubber As Concrete Aggregates

At present the disposal of waste tyres is becoming a major waste management problem in the world. It is estimated that 1.2 billions of waste tyre rubber produced globally per year. It is estimated that 11% of post consumer tyres are exported and 27% are sent to landfill, stockpiled or dumped illegally and only 4% is used for civil engineering projects. Hence efforts have been taken to identify ...

An integrated approach of composting methodologies for solid waste management

Organic fraction of solid waste, which upon degradation produces foul smell and generates pathogens, if not properly managed. Composting is not a method of waste disposal but it is a method of waste recycling and used for agricultural purposes. An integrated approach of composting methodology was tested for municipal solid waste management. Solid waste first was composted and after 22 days, was...
